JANI LUOMA

Biography

I am an artist based in Helsinki, Finland. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, Finland, in 2025. My works are primarily video installations, performances, and texts. I use diary-like video footage, audio recordings, and written notes as materials in my practice. By re-arranging these intimate fragments, I create works that shatter and disrupt structures of sexuality, class, and economy.

My works have been shown in Finland, Sweden, and Norway in the following contexts: Helsinki Biennale 2025 Preview Week; Kirpilä Art Collection, Helsinki, FI; At Home with (7), curated by Sini Pelkki and Magnús Kristinsson, Helsinki, FI; Ateneum Art Museum, Helsinki, FI; Gallery Rajatila, Tampere, FI; Asbestos Art Space, Helsinki, FI; Kuva/Tila, Helsinki, FI; Vapaan Taiteen Tila, Helsinki, FI; Konsthall323, Stockholm, SE; Hjorten Sculpture Park 2025, Stockholm, SE; Havet (Konstfack), Stockholm, SE; Utomhusgalleriet på Sergels torg, Stockholm, SE; and Galleri Eker Gård, Beitostølen, NO.

My artistic practice has been supported by Amos Andersson’s Fond, Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, the Finnish-Swedish Cultural Foundation, Eugène, Elisabeth and Birgit Nygrén Foundation, Greta and Alfred Runeberg Foundation, and University of the Arts Helsinki Foundation. I have participated in residencies in Sweden, Germany, and Finland. In the summer of 2026, I will take part in the SÍM Residency in Reykjavík.
